This WordPress tutorial for beginner will let you know about “how to install plugins on your website”. Before you start you must know/have the plugin you want to install on your website. There are two ways to install a plugin, through WordPress Dashboard and through FTP software. But for beginners WordPress Dashboard option is best because of easy options. However, here you will know both methods.
Install Plugin though WordPress Dashboard
- Go to >> Plugins >> Add New
- Search Desired Plugin Name
- Click on Install Button
- Click on Activate Plugin
Let’s assume if you want to install a plugin to upload images or banner ads and put them onto my sidebar. Simply go to the search plugin and enter your keyword into here, and click on Search Plugins.
Here we use a keyword for this purpose so we can see several plugins related to our searched keyword that are free to install. Here I will install Image Banner Widget, first I will search for this and click on Install Now, click Okay than Activate Plugin and now and if it ask you about FTP user name and password go ahead with this information and click on Install Now then Activate Plugin.
In case if you have a plugin in your computer simply click on Add new >> upload >> Browse >> Pick File >> Install Now then Activate Plugin.
Install Plugin though FTP Software
For this you must have desired plugin in your computer’s hard disk go to Plugins >> Add New >> locate file >> unzip this zip file >> upload this folder through FTP software.
For this click on Upload >> Choose File, and locate this “.zip” file and click on Install Now, go through the same processer but here you need to enter FTP user name and password, and go through that avenue.
If you have FTP software, unzip plugin folder, here we use FileZilla; you need to connect to your FTP site and locate your WordPress files and find wp-content folder and drag and drop the folder in the software, it’s finally uploaded go to your WP Dashboard, click on Install Plugins and click on Activate, your plugin is ready to use.
