Recently a large number of Gmail accounts was hit by a hackers and they found their credentials, in response of this hacker’s attack on Gmail accounts Automattic the company behind WordPress has reset more then 1,00,000 customers’ accounts this week.
The security officer of download the list of Gmail’s leaked credentials that was posted by the hackers on a Russian forum and compared the passwords of these leaked information with their WordPress passwords if there were any matches.
If any of the user password matched with the leaked credentials with their WordPress.com details was reset by the security officer and sent an email to the users to get the new password.
Houston the WordPress security officer Automattic took the important step over the weekend and published in Australian time to protect WordPress.com users.
Huston added that almost 600,000 WordPress users’ email address are in the list, but their passwords were not set immediately. He also advice to the other WordPress uses to enable two-factor authentication for their WordPress.com accounts.
They thinks this way of accounts reset and two-factor authentication will be helpful for the users in order to make their WordPress site secure.
